{"template":"baseball-prospect-risers","subtitle":"Looking back at the last two weeks of minor league action","readTime":"","intro":"I'm back after another quick vacation and should be around to keep everyone updated on the most recent minor league action for the majority of the summer. Be on the lookout for my top 100 that I'll be putting out in the next week or two and be sure to check out the rest of our fantasy content on Fantasy Roundup. Justin and Chris recently started a podcast that I highly recommend and Justin also does a fantastic job with his waiver wire writeups each week. Now let's get into some minor league action. ","tiers":[{"id":"tier-1","label":"% Owned on Fantrax I've talked about Velazquez before but wanted to note that he got the call to AAA recently and made his debut at the level at just 20 years old. His AA performance was extremely impressive and he's solidified himself as one of the best pure bats in the minors. Still just 40% owned, any dynasty league where he is available should be jumping on this guy. "},{"name":"Alfredo Duno","team":"CIN - A+","position":"C","age":"20","pctOwned":"39","writeup":"Duno has been on fire and has smashed 7 homers since May 10th. Even more impressive is the increase in contact rate from 71% last year to almost 75% so far this season. He has all the makings of an elite catcher and is becoming one of the more exciting bats in the minors. My only gripe, and this applies to most minor league catchers in general, is that he is likely to be moving slowly and I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see him in the bigs until 2028. Make sure you know your league and if it's worth waiting for a catcher for that long before jumping on the chance to own him. "},{"name":"Edwin Arroyo","team":"CIN - AAA","position":"3B/SS","age":"22","pctOwned":"34","writeup":"Arroyo's slashline is now at .348/.409/.604 after an impressive couple weeks. The hit tool has been above average, he's hitting the ball pretty hard with a solid 90.3 average EV, he's also hitting more fly balls, basically everything you want to see out of a young hitter. I don't think we'll be seeing a call up anytime soon though, with Elly locked in at SS he's started to get some reps at 3B for the first time and it sounds like they want to get him comfortable with the position. The chase rate of 36% is also cause for a bit of concern so some reps and more AB's may be a good thing even if it seems like he may be ready. "},{"name":"Eric Hartman","team":"ATL - A+","position":"OF","age":"19","pctOwned":"26","writeup":"Hartman keeps hitting and is getting serious helium from some places. I like him a lot, but I don't think I'll end up as high on him as some people will. The hit tool is solid but seems closer to average than anything else. The real difference maker will be the power and sure, he's hit 13 homers already this season, but the homer numbers in A+ and AA ball are quite ridiculous at the moment. I think he's a very good prospect, probably top 100, but I'm not ready to go all out yet. "},{"name":"Karson Milbrandt","team":"MIA - AA","position":"SP","age":"22","pctOwned":"21","writeup":"Milbrandt was one of my offseason targets and he's been dominant so far this year. The fastball is exciting and his best pitch, but he's got a good cutter and slider, and a decent curveball to go along with it. Most importantly, he's walking less batters this season and that will be the key to his success. I really like him and I think we'll see him on most top 100's very soon, he'll certainly be on mine. "}]},{"id":"tier-2","label":"After a rough start to the year, the 5.47 ERA doesn't jump off the page, but Hill has put together a couple of very good starts recently. In his last one, he went 5 IP with 7 strikeouts, 2 hits, and most importantly, 0 walks. The command needs work, but this is an exciting young pitcher with velocity and very good secondaries and if he can continue to throw like he did in this past outing then he'll get some helium quickly. "},{"name":"Tate Southisene","team":"ATL","position":"2B/SS","age":"19","pctOwned":"16","writeup":"The toolsy Southisene has had a fantastic start to the season. There's a huge ceiling with his power and speed combo and he's managed to keep the K's in check to begin the year. If he can continue that then there's a lot to be very excited about. If you're looking for a high ceiling then this is the guy to look into if he's available in your league. "},{"name":"Jacob Gonzalez","team":"CHW - AAA","position":"SS","age":"23","pctOwned":"12","writeup":"Gonzalez has been one of the hottest hitters in the minor leagues and is putting up some impressive numbers at AAA. After hitting only 8 homers across two levels last year, he's already up to 15 and even increased his max EV from 107.2 to 113.6 MPH. The hard hit rate is up, he's hitting fly balls, the contact numbers are good, it's possible that we are seeing a breakout here and if he's available in your league, I'd be grabbing him to see if it's real. I'm not sure if I fully believe in the power and I see a world where he ends up being just a utility guy but at 12% owned, he's worth checking out in deeper leagues. "},{"name":"Kendall George","team":"LAD - AA","position":"OF","age":"21","pctOwned":"12","writeup":"Part of the stacked Dodgers AA outfield, George is a bit different than Hope, De Paula, and Sirota in that he has almost no power. The speed is legit though and he's stolen 25 bags in 39 games so far. I'm usually a little skeptical of guys without much power and good but not great hit tools so I don't think he'll be a Chandler Simpson type and I wouldn't be surprised if he's closer to a fourth outfielder than anything else. "},{"name":"Kane Kepley","team":"CHC - A+","position":"OF","age":"22","pctOwned":"11","writeup":"Kepley is now up to 23 stolen bases and a .483 OBP on the season. He's due for a promotion to AA soon in my opinion and it's looking like one of the better on base and speed combos in the minors. The hit tool looks legit as well, just be aware that he doesn't have much power and won't help you in that department if you're interested. "}]},{"id":"tier-3","label":"Perry was a 12th rounder in 2022 who missed all of last season with TJ and has come back better than ever. In 2024, he had a hard time throwing strikes yet is now sporting a walk rate of around 9% in 8 outings split between A and A+ ball. The fastball is legit and he's got good breaking pitches to go with it. I've seen some talk about potentially being a top 100 arm from a couple people and he's looking like a real breakout. "},{"name":"Murf Gray","team":"PIT - A+","position":"3B","age":"22","pctOwned":"8","writeup":"My guy finally was promoted to A+ ball and picked up right where he left off by crushing a homer out of the stadium on his debut. The bat is legit but it's also good to see Pittsburgh continuing to give him time at 3B. Sticking at the position instead of him being a 1B only guy would be huge for his fantasy stock. His ownership percentage is slowly creeping up so get in while you still have the chance. "},{"name":"Parks Harbor","team":"SF - AA","position":"3B","age":"24","pctOwned":"7","writeup":"At 24 in AA, it's easy to be skeptical of his results but at the same time, it's hard to argue with his .362/.406/.660 slashline. The most impressive part of his play this season is the 78% contact rate that is up from 73% last year. The hit tool has always been a question mark so it might be time to start putting a bit of respect on his name. I'm certainly interested at this point. "},{"name":"Brady Ebel","team":"MIL - A","position":"SS","age":"18","pctOwned":"7","writeup":"Ebel has been very good this past week, hitting .423 with 5 extra base hits and only 3 strikeouts to go with 3 walks. It was a slow start to the season but now he's up to a league average wRC+ and is looking like an interesting prospect. At 6'3\", he's got the size that would make you think that more power is coming and he's showing solid contact numbers as well. There's a lot of development needed here but there's the ingredients for a good all around hitter with speed on top of it. I don't have any shares and I'm not too in on him personally but I'm intrigued. "}]},{"id":"tier-4","label":"Guanipa was a big time international free agent who signed for 2.5 million in 2023. He did fairly well in the DSL and complex league before hitting a wall at A ball. This is now his 3rd year with 100+ AB's at the level and he's hitting the ball very well right now. Still the swing and chase numbers are not very good and while he has 8 homers so far, the power isn't anything to write home about so I'm not very interested in the moment. It will take him doing it at a higher level to convince me that this isn't just a 20 year old acclimating to the level after a long period of time. "},{"name":"Ty Southisene","team":"CHC - A+","position":"2B/SS","age":"20","pctOwned":"1","writeup":"I mentioned Tate earlier in the column and had to include his older brother Ty who is also playing very well right now. While Tate is toolsy and has a boom or bust profile, Ty is smaller with a good speed/hit tool combo. He's similar to Kepley in that he has a good plate approach and is putting up great contact numbers, he just won't help you in the power department as seen by his 0 homers in 500+ AB's since getting drafted in 2024. He's worth an add in very deep leagues that value a high floor. "}]}]}
