The extension supersedes and restructures Sanchez's prior 2024 extension that ran through 2028 or 2030, guaranteeing $107 million through 2032 including his $3.5 million 2026 salary. Originally signed by Tampa Bay as an amateur free agent in 2013, Sanchez was traded to Philadelphia on November 20, 2019, for Curtis Mead. Sanchez has compiled a 3.00 ERA across 81 starts from 2023-2025, establishing himself as the staff's top starter over this period. The Phillies reached the playoffs in 2025, with Sanchez expected to serve as the team's Opening Day starter in 2026 as Philadelphia pursues another deep postseason run.
